Board Member Announcement
We are sad to lose Zina Mercil as our Vice President and wish her well on her transitions! And, we are so privileged to have Jill Leversee join our team in the Vice President seat! Please help us in welcoming Jill onto the RM ADTA board!
Partnering with COGPS
We are thrilled to announce a partnership with the Colorado Group Psychotherapy Society ! The gifts of group psychotherapy and dance movement therapy run on close parallel tracks. The RMADTA will have presence at the COGPS conference listed below as a sponsor and offering an experiential. On Sunday October 23rd we will offer a movement based activity to open the conference and give attendees the opportunity to land in their bodies before the conference begins. We will also have a booth to help spread the word about how somatic / dance movement therapy can inform and be informed by groups. Stop by the booth to see us!
The COGPS Conference is this fall:
– Date : October 22 & 23 , 2o16
– Time : 8:15 am – 5:30 pm
– Location : CU Anschutz Medical Campus Outpatient Building 500
– The PResenters & timeline is still being worked on, but will follow the same format as last year’s COGPS conference. Click here to read more about how the COGPS does it!
Save the Date: Fall Workshop with Carla Sherrell
We are sponsoring Carla Sherrell for our RM ADTA fall workshop. Carla is a core faculty member of Naropa University’s Somatic Counseling Psychology department. She has been an educational leader for over 30 years as a counselor, teacher, and a social justice facilitator and consultant. She is Co-Executive Director of The Sum, a Colorado nonprofit that supports educational institutions, other nonprofits, and businesses in becoming inclusive communities across ethnic, racial, gender, sexual orientation, religious, and other sociocultural group affiliations & locations. Carla will be offering her expertise on how to bridge the worlds of counseling, body based therapies, and cultural competency. All of the RM ADTA board members agree that if you have not experienced Carla (if you have, you may want more time with her!) , you don’t want to miss this workshop! Carla is a true gift as an elder in our community. The RM ADTA is intentionally hosting this workshop in Denver instead of Boulder. Please join us as we work on making our presence in the community more inclusive and accessible. More details to come on the content of the workshop. See below for logistics:
– Date : Saturday October 22nd
– Time : 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
– Location : Dancing the Soul, 950-C Jersey St Denver CO
